Peters’ Cleaners Partners with InPost for Pioneering 24/7 Dry-Cleaning Service
Vicky Whiter, CEO of Peters’ Cleaners, leads the way with a groundbreaking 24/7 locker service in collaboration with InPost, redefining convenience for customers.
24/7 Locker-Based Dry Cleaning Service Establishes New Standard Across the UK
Peters’ Cleaners teams up with InPost to launch a 24/7 nationwide locker service, providing convenience and innovation, addressing the evolving needs of modern consumers and challenges faced by the high street.
Peterborough-based Peters’ Cleaners, a family-run dry-cleaning business established in 1963, is revolutionizing the industry with a groundbreaking partnership with InPost, launching a nationwide 24/7 dry-cleaning service.
The innovative service leverages InPost’s extensive locker network, allowing customers to drop off and pick up their garments at their convenience. With over 13,000 lockers available across the UK, this partnership combines Peters’ Cleaners’ trusted reputation—boasting a 4.8 Trustpilot rating—with InPost’s modern logistics infrastructure to offer a game-changing solution for busy households and professionals.
Customers can book the service online, drop off their garments at a nearby InPost Locker, and retrieve them from the same location after professional cleaning, pressing, and packaging. This streamlined approach eliminates the constraints of traditional fixed-location dry-cleaning services, accommodating the flexible lifestyles of today’s consumers.
“We’re the first dry cleaner to create a nationwide locker-based partnership with InPost.”
– Vicky Whiter, CEO of Peters’ Cleaners
“This partnership shows how InPost Lockers can enable new types of services beyond parcel delivery,” said Peter Blackburn, International Commercial Director at InPost. “By combining our nationwide network with specialist providers like Peters’ Cleaners, we’re helping businesses reach customers in a way that fits modern lifestyles.”
The concept was spearheaded by Vicky Whiter, owner of Peters’ Cleaners, who has been working on the project for the past year to ensure the highest quality and safety standards for all garments. “We’re the first dry cleaner to create a nationwide locker-based partnership with InPost, combining InPost’s out-of-home locker network with specialist garment care. This marks a turning point for the entire dry-cleaning industry,” Whiter explained.
Amid growing challenges for the UK high street, including rising operational costs and a decline in footfall, the dry-cleaning sector has faced significant pressures. Reports from PwC highlighted the closure of 6,945 retail outlets in the first half of 2024 alone, with staffing shortages and an ageing workforce further complicating the landscape.
“The aim is simple: give people a service that fits modern life without turning ‘dry cleaning’ into a rushed production line.” – Vicky Whiter, CEO of Peters’ Cleaners
IBISWorld data also indicates that the UK dry-cleaning market has contracted by 2.3% annually between 2019 and 2024. However, Whiter believes innovation is the key to revitalizing the industry.
“As households become busier and time poorer, the demand for convenience and out-of-hours services is driving change across many industries,” Whiter said. “With the challenges facing traditional dry cleaners, evolution and innovation are the only way forward. This partnership puts control and flexibility in the hands of the customer and ensures convenience without compromising on quality.”
According to InPost, approximately 75% of residents in the UK’s three largest cities live within a seven-minute walk of an InPost Locker. With such accessibility, industry experts predict widespread adoption of this new dry-cleaning model.
“The aim is simple,” Whiter concluded. “To provide a service that fits modern life without turning dry cleaning into a rushed production line.”
This bold move by Peters’ Cleaners and InPost presents a timely and innovative solution for the dry-cleaning sector, setting a potential new standard of convenience and quality for customers across the UK.
